1 down, 1 to go; fire still growing in Pecos County
May 05th, 2008Huckaby Fire in Pecos County Extinguished
From KWES, Midland, Odessa
After burning for almost a week, the Huckaby fire in Pecos County is out. Almost 100,000 acres burned in the fire southeast of Fort Stockton. The Forest Service has blocked off the path of the fire, but they’re playing it safe, and are calling the fire 75 percent contained.

While Texas Forest Service firefighters have been able to contain one major Permian Basin wildfire, another is continuing to grow. The Midland County Price Fire was estimated to be 100 percent contained as of 6 p.m. Sunday. That blaze consumed about 2,500 acres. Read More »

Houston’s I-10 now open after truck explosion

All lanes of I-10 East are now open. All were closed after the driver of an 18-wheeler hit a concrete pillar on I-10 near Hogan, near the I-45 exit. The truck exploded and burst into flames just after 1 a.m. Monday. The truck driver suffered burns to 80 percent of his body. He is in critical condition. Read More »
