Need a fire truck? The City of Tyler has one for sale. You'll need at least $10,000. That's the next-highest bid on the auction Web site where the fire truck, and about 25 other city-owned vehicles, is on the block.
The fire truck's a beauty, if not a bit worn. It's a Hendrickson Emergency One 1971-WA, 110-foot Aerial Fire Truck with 26,816 miles showing (not guaranteed). You can see from the photos that the front seat cover is a bit cracked, but the paint is shiny.
The photos, and all of the other items up for bid, are available to view by visiting www.auctioneerexpress.com.
The city is doing some spring cleaning. It's listed two Ford Tauruses, 14 various makes and models of pickup trucks, five hydraulic power units, and a table on the auction site.
All of the items will be sold to the highest bidder, city officials say, as long as the high bid is sufficient for the city representative serving as the auctioneer. You can inspect the vehicles before bidding by calling Russ Jackson, Vehicle Services director, at 903-531-1321.
