Missouri Firefighter Killed, Two Officers Shot

A rookie firefighter was killed and two police officers were wounded when a gunman opened fire in Maplewood early today. The gunman might still be holed up in a burning home, and police sharpshooters have swarmed the neighborhood near South Big Bend Boulevard and Zephyr Place. Firefighters Battle Fierce Ill. Hotel Fire

Officials said dozens of firefighters battled a five-alarm blaze at a hotel in the Chicago suburb of Lockport.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. Officials with the Lockport Township Fire Protection District said the blaze broke out at the three-story Towpath Inn just before 4 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters from several surrounding communities were involved, and more than 30 fire trucks were reportedly at the scene.

Injured Firefighter Recounts Story of Salisbury Blaze

Captain James Hall has fought fires for 15 years. Hall was injured as he attempted to rescue three firefighters trapped inside Salisbury Millworks that erupted into flames early Friday morning. Hall was only able to pull Captain Rick Barkley out of the flames. FOX8’s Angela Rodriguez sat down with Hall as he told his story for the first time.

Two firefighters were killed and at least two others injured in a massive blaze in Salisbury early Friday.
All of the firefighters hurt are from the Salisbury area, but their department names and their identities have not been released. The extent of the injuries of the surviving firefighters is not known at this time. Read More »
