Early Morning Fire Damages Future Police Headquarters Building in Waco

From Donald Scott at KWTX News, Waco
Fire broke out early Tuesday morning at the Hillcrest Medical Tower building, which is under renovation and soon will become the new headquarters building for Waco police.
Firefighters were called to the building at 31st and Pine Avenue just minutes after 1 a.m. and found flames on the roof and fire in some of the top floor walls. The extent of the damage to the 11-story building was not known Tuesday morning.

Waco Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Kerwin said firefighters had to cut through the roof to get to flames inside the building. Kerwin declared the blaze out at about 2:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday. No one was injured.
