Update: Ata-Bexar, Sandy Oaks fire departments back in business

After an emotional night of pleas to an emergency services district board Wednesday to reactivate two recently closed South Bexar County fire departments, a newly appointed district fire chief immediately asked that volunteer service at both stations be reinstated.

That essentially meant the Ata-Bexar and Sandy Oaks departments once again would be dispatched to 911 calls in their service areas.
