Overnight fire damages Waco home

No one was injured in an early morning fire Sunday that damaged a Waco home. Six firetrucks responded to a 2:14 a.m. call at a residence in the 1600 block of North 21st Street, Waco Fire Department Assistant Chief Patrick Kerwin said. Flames were visible from the front and side of the house when the first unit arrived, Kerwin said.
The house’s residents were not inside the home when the fire began, but they were at the scene when Waco firefighters arrived, Kerwin said. The bedroom sustained heavy smoke, water and fire damage, he said, while the rest of the house was heavily damaged by smoke.
Kerwin said the Waco fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Two people were without a home Sunday morning following a fire in Waco. Around 2:00 a.m., the home at 1613 North 21st Street was destroyed in the blaze.
The homeowners did not want to go on camera, but told News Channel 25 they think the fire is arson because items from their home were stolen. No one was home at the time of the fire.
