Fires damage northeast Brownfield homes

The Brownfield Fire Department responded to a house fire at about 3:30 a.m. Friday at 709 Cactus Lane. The fire took nearly five hours to extinguish. The building was nearly completely destroyed, according to Fire Chief Dennis Chief.

BFD tackled another fire at about 10:25 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Shinnery Lane. The fire began in the garage of the property. The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
