3-alarm blaze strikes printing warehouse in Houston

Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze at a printing company warehouse near the Galleria area, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the fire that began around 11 p.m. at the Grover Printing Company, 5829 Beverlyhill, said Houston Fire Department Assistant Chief Kevin Alexander.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and fire coming from the warehouse portion of the building and called for an additional alarm for more manpower because of the size of the structure, which appears to measure at least 10,000 square feet, Alexander said.

The blaze was under control about an hour later and was contained to the warehouse. The company offices, which are attached to the warehouse, were not damaged, Alexander said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. No further information is immediately available.

After battling the flames for more than three hours, firefighters put on a three alarm warehouse fire in southwest Houston overnight. A fire truck was going back to the station after another call when they spotted smoke at a building on Beverly Hill near Bering. The smoke ended up coming from the Grover Printing Company. After realizing there was a lot of paper and paper products in the building, firefighters pulled three alarms.

“Currently right now, we don’t have any issues with hazardous materials,” said Asst. Chief Kevin Alexander with the Houston Fire Department. “We have the paper products that are burning and the units are actually putting those out as we speak.”

No one was hurt in the fire and arson is trying to find out how it started.
