Fire crews finally managed to extinguish the flames late in the evening Saturday from a pretty intense fire that burned for most of the day. Four storage tanks caught fire at around 8:30 Saturday morning at the North and South Oil Company near Luling in Caldwell County. The company drills and stores oil.

At one point you could see thick, black smoke from miles away.Crews still aren’t sure how it started, but say the state fire marshal will be on the scene Monday to investigate.

“There’s not anything suspicious at this time. It’s just a precaution. Let them come down and look at it since we don’t know what started it,” said Jim Parker, Caldwell County Emergency Management Coordinator.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire.
