Large Fire Now Contained in Brewster County

Fire fighters in Brewster County have managed to get a large grassfire under control.
The fire, which is seven miles north of Alpine, is now contained on the Merryweather Ranch.

The fire started Monday afternoon. Crews from Alpine, Fort Davis and Marathon along with Texas Forest Service all battled the blaze. Three homes were in danger from the fire at one time and four people were trapped inside one of the homes, but no one has been hurt and all of the homes are out of harms way.

The fire has consumed sheds, power lines and fencing. It is unknown how many acres have burned at this time.
