A house fire Thursday night left an elderly woman seriously injured. The blaze began about 9:20 p.m. at a home in the 3100 block of Spur Trail, near Valley View Lane and Webb Chapel Road. The woman’s husband was at the house when the fire began and escaped injury, spokesman Tom Bryson said.
A spokesman for the city of Farmers Branch said the woman, believed to be in her 80s, was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in serious condition. Two police officers who responded to the scene were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and released.

An elderly Farmers Branch woman died after being pulled from her burning home. The fire, in the 3100 block of Spur Trail, was reported just before 9 p.m. Thursday. First to arrive at the scene were two Farmers Branch police officers, who battled heavy smoke and flames to find 86-year-old Rosemary Webb in a front room. She was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, but later died.
The two officers were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. “Anyone who runs into a burning house is a hero,” said City of Farmers Branch spokesman Tom Bryson in praise of the police and firefighters who responded to the scene.
Webb’s husband was able to escape from the burning house unhurt.
It took almost two hours for the fire to be brought under control initially, but it reignited overnight and was still burning at daybreak Friday. Fire Chief Kyle King said the residence was a total loss.
Farmers Branch firefighters were assisted by colleagues from Addison, Carrollton and Coppell.

It is also so devastating to a family, and community as well, to witness any loss of life and a lifetime of memories. I send a tribute to the police officers who risked their lives for Mrs. Webb. I cannot tell you how comforting it is to see the combined efforts of the Emergency Services of Farmers Branch, Carrollton, Addison and Coppell working as a TEAM for our Metrocrest area. Deepest sympathies to Mr. Webb and his sons. God Bless You All.
