1 person dead in Liberty Hill fire
|
The fire broke out at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 212 Chaparral Drive in Liberty Hill. Firefighters found a body inside a trailer. When a KEYE news team arrived firefighters were working trying figure out a way to get inside the burned trailer. They say they were not able to pull out the deceased man inside because of how unstable the trailer was.
Firefighters say they were able to pull down a wall of the trailer to see that there was one deceased man inside but since they were not able to enter they can’t be certain that there was no one else in the trailer.
50 firefighters came to the scene after a neighbor called 911. The neighbor says the man who lived in the home was confined to a wheelchair, lived alone and was in his 50’s.
The neighbor tried to get inside the trailer and help but says the fire was just too ferocious.
“The fire department is going to go through the house and looking to see if anyone was inside possibly visiting, which is very dangerous because there were holes in the floor, I will say prior to the fire the house was very dilapidated,” says John Foster of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department also says that over the years they have been to the trailer before for various disturbances, some involving drugs. They say they are concerned about foul play and are investigating.
