Men working on McDonald’s sign stranded

Two men working on a McDonald’s sign in Montgomery County had to be rescued Wednesday night after their crane malfunctioned, stranding them 130 feet in the air.
It happened at the McDonald’s restaurant at State Highway 105 and US 59 in Cleveland.
Crews from the Cleveland Fire Department first responded to the scene, but their ladder truck wasn’t tall enough to reach the stranded men.

They called nearby departments in Porter and Baker for a taller ladder truck.
After some maneuvering, firefighters were able to rescue the men about an hour and a half after initially arriving at the scene.

Neither of the stranded men was injured. One of the men, Derick Dagit, said they’d been working on the sign all day in the high winds when they got stuck.

It was unclear what caused the crane to malfunction.
