Fire at Denison Church

Around 2 p.m. Sunday, the Denison Fire Department responded to a fire at the New Testament Bible Church, in the 400 block of Hull Street. First responders said all the doors of the church were locked and they were forced to break down the front entry. Neighbors stood by and watched as smoke slowly leaked out from the windows of the small building. Firefighters acted quickly, ceasing the fire before it reached the second story. The church did hold their regular Sunday services earlier in the day. Luckily, there was nobody inside the building at the time of the fire.

“We just got called to a possible structure fire..smoke coming from the eves of the church. We had to gain access through the front door and then as we went in we found fire in the front office, said Captain Harley Davis, Denison Fire Department.

While there was an electric truck working close to the church at the time of the fire, Fire Captain Harley Davis said they were not sure if the two were directly related.

Fire marshals will begin investigating Monday to determine an official cause.
