An industrial oven fire at Johns Manville on Thursday led to no injuries. Cleburne firefighters responded at 6:05 p.m. to a call about an industrial oven fire within a structure. Firefighters arrived to find a large industrial structure with light to moderate smoke emitting from the top and front of the building.

The fire was concentrated within the oven and duct system running from the oven. The building’s internal fire extinguishing system activated before firefighters arrived. Once the oven was shut down, firefighters completed extinguishing the remaining fire within the oven and ducts. Workers then reactivated the buildings exhaust units to clear smoke.

Firefighters allowed workers to re-enter to check and restart the oven. Firefighters noted no external damage to areas around the oven or ducts.

Initial investigation showed that an excess product buildup lining the walls of the oven apparently ignited because of the extreme heat used in normal operations.

Firefighters reported no injuries connected to the incident.
