The man who police arrested in connection with one fire in the Heights area has gone before a judge on Saturday. Police arrested David Joseph Prince on Friday for allegedly setting the fire at 807 W. 12th on September 17. He faces one count of state arson charges.

Eighteen fires were set in the Heights area since August and luckily, no one has been hurt. A multi-agency task force consisting of the Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau, the Houston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been investigating the fires.

Police said Prince has a lengthy crime record, with charges including drug possession and theft. Police said Prince is only charged with setting one fire and they will continue to search for their firebug.
