San Angelo Firefighters Graduate

San Angelo firefighters added eight men to their ranks last week at the West Texas Training Center after the group graduated from a yearlong training academy. The new firefighters/paramedics include: Robert Acosta, Michael Farish, Brad Hartman, Joshua Longoria, Mason Matthews, Charles Stahl, Russell Vanderburg and Cory Word.

According to a city news release, the recruits are trained with hands-on and classroom instruction, including live fire training, HazMat, and Emergency Medical Services.

All recruits must meet state and federal mandates for continuing education requirements. According to the release, the recruits were assigned to Central Fire Station for firsthand experience.
