Beer Truck Fire Causes Black Smoke onto Houston Freeway

Firefighters arrived at a Beltway 8 shoulder lane where a burning cargo truck containing beer causes other drivers to avoid traveling through black smoke on the roadway. A Houston Transtar camera captured images of the burning Miller Lite-brand beer truck on fire near the Imperial Valley Drive exit.

Most drivers were forced to travel in the far left lanes of Beltway 8 North before the firefighters arrived after 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters in three trucks quickly put out the flames and smoke while continuing to direct traffic to the far left lanes.
