Fire Destroys Jasper Restaurant

It is still not known what caused a fire that broke out early Sunday morning destroying the Jasper Roadhouse Bar and Grill. The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department were called to the business, about 3 miles north of Jasper on Highway 96, shortly before 3:00, when it was reported that the brick and frame structure was on fire.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the firefighters called for assistance from the Lake Rayburn, East End and Tri-Community Fire Departments in bringing the blaze under control and was almost 5:30 before the fire was finally tapped out.

Indications are that the fire started in or around the bar area located in the southwest corner of the building. A rear building or party area known as “Bullfrog’s” did not appear to be damaged.
