A fire broke out at a vacant northwest Houston home early Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported. Houston firefighters battled the flames at the house on East 40th Street near North Main Street at about 1:30 a.m.

Officials said the owner passed away, but relatives had been caring for the property. There was no electricity running to the house, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
