Nolanville reaches compromise with vol. fire department
|
After a long battle, the City of Nolanville and its volunteer fire department have come to an agreement. Last week, the fire department rejected a proposal from the city. Firefighters told News Channel 25, the contract needed to be thrown out and re-written. They added, the contract was changed without their knowledge.
Finally, during a meeting Wednesday, both the volunteer fire department and the city reached a compromise.
One issue that was resolved regarded payments on a small fire truck. The fire department requested that the city pay for it in one $20,000 payment. They argued that the city tends to run out of money at the end of the fiscal year. However, after a discussion, the fire department agreed to a proposal that the city make two payments of $10,000.
At a meeting on Monday, that contract is expected to be finalized.
