Fires in Coleman, Shackelford Counties out

As of Sunday night, the Texas Forest Service reported that two major grass fires, in Shackelford and Coleman counties, were out.
“We monitored both fires today by aircraft,” said Lewis Kearney, a spokesman for TFS. “But they were released Sunday evening.”

Bell, security-firefighters union reach 3-year deal

Bell Helicopter said members of its security and firefighters union ratified a three-year contract over the weekend that includes a pay raise and signing bonus. Bell said the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America Local 256’s members gave a “near-unanimous vote” for the contract.

Investigation continues in Abernathy grass fire

The investigation continues into a grass fire near Abernathy that started on Sunday.
The fire burned about 110 acres Sunday, just west of Abernathy near CR 5100. 40 firefighters from Abernathy, Shallowater and New Deal helped fight the blaze.
There were no reports of injures. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Longview officials say firetrucks at calls save lives, money

Longview Fire Department paramedics arrived minutes after receiving the call. A man was lying semi-conscious in a parking lot near the intersection of Green and Humble streets. The paramedics sprang from the firetruck to check on the man. An ambulance arrived a couple of minutes later.

Cause of house fire under investigation

At least two people were displaced Friday from a blaze that destroyed most of a home with a dog inside, but no human injuries were reported, fire officials said.
