The Abilene Fire Department responded to a small structure fire at the Salvation Army late Tuesday evening in the 1700 block of Butternut Street. The fire in a storage building was quickly contained, and though damage appeared minimal, fire crews remained on the scene until after 11:15 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Mattresses stored behind the building apparently caught fire. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
