Six fire departments fight blaze in Axtell

Six different fire departments were called to battle a fire in McLennan County Friday afternoon. Just before 6pm firefighters were called to a house in the 300 Block of West Denton in Axtell.

Residents told our photographer a woman was inside the house when she noticed the garage was on fire. She quickly got her children to safety.

The blaze moved from the garage to her house, then to a nearby pasture.

Crews from West, Bellmead, Waco, Hallsburg, Leroy, and Axtell all helped put it out.

We’re told the house suffered minor damage, but the garage was destroyed.
