Fort Worth Police and Fire Memorial
|
Citizens, private industry, and the Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments along with the City of Fort Worth have really stepped up to create a Line of Duty Death Memorial for their City’s fallen servants. Called the Fort Worth Police and Firefighters Memorial, it is the culmination of 20 years of hard work, over 1.2 million dollars, and much cooperation on the part of many different individuals.
The Memorial, located in Trinity Park, includes architecture by Randy Gideon and sculpture by Jack Wilson, and is breathtakingly beautiful in it’s simple design. It is such a nice place for these individuals to be remembered by their families and their City. The Fort Worth Star Telegram did a nice piece on the dedication, which Texas-Fire reprinted here.
This post is to draw attention to the website for the memorial. It is an extremely well designed and easy to navigate site that has the correct focus; that of the servants and maintaining vigilance over their memories. The company that designed the site does a ton of good work and appears (from a hack such as myself) to be a fun place to work. I hope the current economics haven’t hit them too hard.
So, thanks to Balcom for the great site to help our family members who have given so much be remembered in a manner that is fitting to their memory.
