Four departments battle Valley Mills blaze
|

Four fire departments helped quench a fire Sunday night near Valley Mills. Valley Mills, Clifton, Crawford and Coryell city fire departments responded about
7:30 p.m. to the apartment fire on East Middle Bosque Road about nine miles from Valley Mills.
The two-bedroom apartment was above a garage and was connected to a house by a covered walkway, said Valley Mills Fire Chief David Fisk. The fire left the apartment uninhabitable, but the house wasn’t damaged, Fisk said.
Children had their rooms in the apartment, while their parents lived in the main house, Fisk said. No one was home when the fire started.
The fire’s cause was unknown and under investigation Monday, but it appears the fire could have started in a vehicle outside the apartment, Fisk said.

__________
An apartment is a total loss after a huge fire Sunday evening in Valley Mills, 25 miles northwest of Waco. The apartment, attached to a large log cabin, is located on East Middle Bosque Road.
Firefighters say they knew it would be difficult to contain right away, because the closest water supply is eight miles from the area. Three fire departments were immediately called, so enough water could be transported to the site.
Valley Mills Fire Chief David Fisk said, “Flames were shooting out of both eaves; flames were shooting out of all the top windows of the structure; flames were everywhere.”
Luckily, the flames did not spread into the log cabin.
No one was home at the time of the fire. There’s no word on what sparked the blaze.
