At Least Two Firefighters Caught Up In Fort Bend Drug Raid

At least two firefighters, one with the Houston Fire Department, have been arrested in Wednesday’s sweeping drug raid that has been called the largest in Fort Bend County history.

San Benito investigates questionable promotion

The city’s Civil Service Commission will investigate a former official’s claim that her signature was forged on a document in the case of a firefighter whose promotion remains in question. The three-member commission Wednesday appointed Commissioner Luis Gonzalez to investigate former Fire Chief Orlando Garcia’s promotion of firefighter Rafael Perez to the position of driver.

Single-story garage fire in Amarillo

Fire engulfed a single-story garage and triggered fire alarms at a nearby elementary school Thursday afternoon. Amarillo firefighters said the blaze started in what appeared to be an abandoned garage about 4:50 p.m. behind a residence at 308 S. Overton students escape before fire destroys school bus

A school bus, less than a year old, caught fire with students on board, on County Road 1114. Fortunately, the driver, two bus monitors and six children on the bus were able to get out. The bus caught fire in Rusk County outside of Overton at around 1:30pm.
