Six people were rescued from an upside down van after the vehicle left the roadway and rolled onto the bank of a creek today. Longview Police Public Information Officer Kevin Brownlee said a 911 call was made about 9:45 a.m. to report the accident in the 100 block of Johnson Street.

“The Longview Police and Fire departments responded and found that a Chevrolet Express van with six occupants had left the roadway while traveling eastbound on Johnston, turning upside down and landing at the bottom of a creek,” he said.

Brownlee said firefighters freed all six occupants and four of them were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.

He added two of the occupants in the van were employees of a residential care facility and the four others were handicapped. The driver of the van was cited for failing to control speed.
