Six families are homeless after their Northeast Side apartments caught fire early Monday.
Firefighters were called to the Heights of Midcrown Apartments near Walzem and Midcrown around 2:00 a.m. Fire officials said it appears the fire started upstairs and then spread to six units at the complex.

Damage estimates have been set at around $350,000. Arson investigators are searching for the cause of the fire.
