Fire sweeps through apartments

Six families are homeless after their Northeast Side apartments caught fire early Monday.
Firefighters were called to the Heights of Midcrown Apartments near Walzem and Midcrown around 2:00 a.m. Fire officials said it appears the fire started upstairs and then spread to six units at the complex.
Damage estimates have been set at around $350,000. Arson investigators are searching for the cause of the fire.
