Car fire damages home

An early morning fire destroyed a car and caused “major damage” to a Killeen home Tuesday. At 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Killeen firefighters responded to a vehicle fire outside a home in the 2300 block of Lazy Ridge Drive. When they arrived, the fire spread to the garage next to the car, the roof and into the attic, said Operations Manager Steve Buchanan of the Killeen Fire Department. The fire was extinguished by 1:15 a.m., and no injuries were reported.

Buchanan said the home did not appear to be a total loss. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
