Fatal Houston fire may be Ike-related

A northeast Houston woman was killed in a house fire Saturday night in a blaze that may be related to Hurricane Ike. Investigators said it appeared the woman lit some candles because her power – like millions of others in the area – was knocked out by Ike.
The fatal fire happened at a home on Chatman near Quitman about 11 p.m. When Houston firefighters arrived at the home, the back bedroom was fully engulfed. After dousing the blaze, firefighters found a woman in her 50s dead in the bedroom.
They also found evidence that the woman had a candle in the room and likely fell asleep with it still lit.
