Volunteers: Departments leaner

Volunteer firefighters recently stood shoulder-to-shoulder in Canyon learning the latest fire rescue techniques. The gathering used to be the second-largest training event in the state, drawing more than 1,000 volunteers over two nights.This year, the number of participants dropped to fewer than 400.

Couple Dies in House Fire near Gregory

A house near Gregory started on fire Thursday night and killed two people inside. The fire broke out just after 10 p.m. at a home just north of Gregory near County Road 4139 and County Road 1430 and last for about 45 minutes.
