The weather is hot and dry and getting worse, a bad combination for firefighters who have been called out repeatedly in recent weeks to battle mostly grass fires.

A boat trailer being pulled on the rim apparently sparked a large grass fire north of Aquilla about 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. The fire was located off Farm Road 933 between HCRs 2126 and 2122 in a heavily-wooded area.
