Deputy, wife found dead in burned mobile home

A veteran Harris County sheriff’s deputy and his wife were found dead Thursday morning in their burned Liberty County mobile home, having crawled to within a few feet of the back door, officials said.

Firefighters are getting control of a fire that has been burning south of Snyder. The fire started around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and threatened homes off of Round Top Road for a time.

Stephenville fire under investigation

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Stephenville Fire Marshal are investigating Monday night’s fire at a local apartment complex. Stephenville Fire Chief Jimmy Chew said there is nothing suspicious about the fire, but he wants to determine the cause of the fire to prevent similar events.
