Video report from KCEN TV News, Waco
A construction worker fell 30 feet off a cliff while working at the future site of the Dead Fish Grill restaurant on Belton Lake. The man who fell off the cliff is in stable condition and expected to make full recovery. Officials with the Dead Fish Grill say the man’s name is David Davis, a construction worker for Jean Doss Construction, the contractor working on the restaurant.

Belton firefighters say when a board Davis was standing on broke he fell about 30 feet and landed on rocks down below. Firefighters had to use high angle rescue equipment to retrieve him and say that type of recovery effort is not easy.

“It’s pretty important, you know, you got to get the patient up without causing anymore damage to them, any more injuries. You don’t want to drop them or anything like that, so you gotta, you know, tie them in good and everything, make sure you don’t injure them worse.” Lieutenant Wesley Gilbreath with the Belton Fire Department said.

Davis suffered a head injury. He was taken to Scott and White Hospital where he will be kept overnight. Officials with then restaurant say they will conduct an internal investigation to find out exactly what happened.
