Luz A. Muñoz and her three children had to move into her parents’ garage in July after her trailer home in Sparks burned down. The fire, which firefighters said was due to an electrical short, left the Muñoz clan with no home, furniture or personal belongings.
Still, Muñoz, who works taking care of the elderly, said she doesn’t believe in feeling sorry for herself.
“If my children see me sad, they’ll be sad. And that doesn’t remedy anything. Instead, I give thanks that I can work and stay focused on the future. I don’t like to dwell on what happened.”
Muñoz does appreciate the generosity of others. Her children will receive coats through Operation Noel. And her neighbors have donated clothes, beds and a television for her family.
Muñoz said her plans are to build a home on her property. She has already started construction of three walls, made of cinder block and concrete.
She would appreciate any help with construction materials, so that she can complete two rooms, with plumbing and a roof.
