Trapped firefighters come out with only minor injuries

KVUE.com
A pair of firefighters had a close call while fighting a fire that broke out in Northwest Austin.

A pawn shop caught fire just after midnight Saturday at Lake Creek Parkway and 183.

Jollyville and Austin firefighters couldn’t go in the building because the fire was too heavy.

They were fighting the fire from outside when one of the building’s awnings collapsed on them.

“The firefighters were trapped for about a minute other firefighters were immediately able to get in and rescue them. Those two firefighters luckily only suffered minor injuries,” said Palmer Buck with AFD.

Even though the injuries were minor they were transported to Brackenridge Hospital, where they were released a few hours later.
